A few words from Ash on his prints for November
I have been working hard to make six new and fresh prints that will be released over the month of November. As we head into lock down yet again, Lorraine and I wanted to let our customers know what we have been working on and that we will still be bringing to you new and lovely Pyrus pieces.
There are some amazing bohemian inspired prints and a range of our much loved animal prints. Each print was hand painted by me and has been printed in a limited run so what you get is truly special.
My inspiration for this month's prints was block printed Indian textiles and I have triedto incorporate this unique printing techinique into the artowrks. Though we now use digital printing for our garments I have always loved the age old tradition on wood block printing.
When a piece of fabric is hand printed in this way it always ends up with unique and distinctive errors which adds to its charm. Sometimes the colour seperations move just a little to create a doubling effect. Sometimes the ink doesn't transfer properly. Much like the Japanese art of Kintsugi, which I also admire, the artworks of this month have similar features of finding perfection in imperfect objects.
Making the artworks was a very fun experience as it meant that I had to draw and paint with a very free hand; almost making errors with intention. I am pleased with the final results and I hope you enjoy the pieces when they drop later on this month.
