Introducing LAM Clothing
As our promise to #supportsmallbusiness continues, we were so excited to find British brand LAM Clothing and to be stocking pieces from the debut collection designed by founder Lucy Anne Makewell.
When I met Lucy (after hounding her to stock her lovely brand!) We had a 2 hour chinwag as designer to designer about all the small details I spotted in each piece of her knitwear collection, the importance of good fitting shapes and the difference between having your own brand and working for others which both have their pros and cons. It was such a lovely first meeting and to share similar experiences with as well as brand values in the less is more approach in long-lasting high quality clothing.
‘At LAM we believe the fashion seasons are becoming less defined, and lam wants to embrace this, believing their clothes don’t need to be defined into into seasons and are much more than fast-fashion’
- Lucy Anne Makewell
Apart from Lucy’s approach to sustainability, we were drawn to the quality of the LAM Clothing knitwear. Although the pieces look understated, there is a lot of thought-out design and detail that Lucy has put into each piece.
Having studied textiles at Chelsea School of Art gaining her degree with a specialism in knitwear, Lucy has had a colourful 20 years experience as a designer for the high street and high end brands. Lucy decided to start LAM Clothing with an ethical ethos as the forefront of her brand - ‘buy less but buy better’
All yarns used in LAM Clothing knits are high quality and responsibly sourced using sustainable and environmentally friendly fibres. Each piece comes with the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), BCI (Better Cotton Initiative, OKEO-TEX standard 100 - tested for harmful substances) STWI (Sweden Textile Water Initiative) and Animal Welfare Policy labelling
